Luther is a British psychological crime drama television series that began airing in 2010. The second series finished being broadcast in the UK on the 5th July 2011.

The series opens with the character of John Luther, a highly talented murder detective, returning to duty after a suspension. With the assistance of Alice Morgan, Justin Ripley and Rose Teller, he uses his brilliant mind to solve cases.

The BBC announced on 28 August 2010 it had recommissioned Luther for a second series for 2011.[8] Filming started for the second series in September/October 2010. The second series of Luther consisted of four episodes which began airing from 14 June 2011 and concluded on 5 July 2011.
